چکیده
This prospective study evaluated the performance of the Amplified Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Direct Test (MTD) for the diagnosis of lymph node tuberculosis in Djibouti, Republic of Djibouti. Of 197 specimens sampled from 153 patients, 123 were from 95 tuberculous patients. The sensitivity and specificity of MTD were 93 and 100%, respectively. The sensitivity of culture was 89%.

Evaluation of the results of Mycobacterium tuberculosis direct test (MTD) and Mycobacterial culture in urine samples
Tuberculosis remains a public health problem in Turkey. Rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis plays a key role in control of infection. In this article, the Gen-Probe Amplified Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Direct Test (MTD) was evaluated for detection of M. tuberculosis in urine samples. The performance of the MTD was very good and appropriate for routine laboratory diagnosis.
متن کاملEvaluation of GenoType mycobacteria direct assay in comparison with Gen-Probe Mycobacterium tuberculosis amplified direct test and GenoType MTBDRplus for direct detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in clinical samples.
Three molecular assays were evaluated for the direct detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex bacteria in 125 respiratory and 22 nonrespiratory samples. The overall sensitivities obtained were as follows: GenoType MTBDRplus, 97.9%; GenoType Mycobacteria Direct, 93.7%; Gen-Probe Mycobacterium tuberculosis Amplified Direct Test, 89.6%. The specificity of the assays used was 100%.
متن کاملClinical Evaluation of the Gen-Probe amplified mycobacterium tuberculosis direct test for rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in select nonrespiratory specimens.
The performance of the Amplified Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Direct Test (MTD; Gen-Probe, Inc., San Diego, Calif.) for rapid diagnosis of extrapulmonary tuberculosis was evaluated by testing 178 nonrespiratory specimens from 158 patients. Criteria for specimen inclusion were (i) a positive smear for acid-fast bacilli (n = 54) and (ii) the source if the smear was negative (tissue biopsies and asp...
متن کاملMisidentification and diagnostic delay Caused by a false-positive amplified Mycobacterium tuberculosis direct test in an immunocompetent patient with a Mycobacterium celatum infection.
The Gen-Probe amplified Mycobacterium tuberculosis direct test can give discrepant results directly in respiratory or cultured samples from patients infected with Mycobacterium celatum, leading to inappropriate therapy for, in our case, an immunocompetent patient.
متن کاملDetection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in clinical specimens by polymerase chain reaction and Gen-Probe Amplified Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Direct Test.
The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using oligonucleotides based on the repetitive sequence (IS986) of Mycobacterium tuberculosis as a primer and the Gen-Probe Amplified Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Direct Test (MTD), which combines an M. tuberculosis rRNA amplification method with the hybridization protection assay format, were evaluated for detection of M. tuberculosis in clinical samples. The ...
